Black History Month Health Movie Event – Prostate Cancer a Family Discussion
Please join the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. – Kappa Xi Lambda Chapter on February 9th, as we host a Black History Month health and wellness event that will include a film screening of “The Black Walnut,” A Terrance Afer-Anderson Film.
This Black History Health event is to educate and share awareness about prostate cancer in the black community. The prostate gland is only about the size of a walnut. However, if cancerous and left untreated, it can kill you! Black men are diagnosed with prostate cancer at a rate more than 1.7 times that of any other ethnic group and die from the disease at a rate 2 times more than white men.
We will have the producer of the film, a local urologist to answer questions, and prostate cancer survivors to share their survivors journey as well as provide free prostate cancer screenings.
